With our dismal showing in the away tours to Eng and Aus since the world cup we have negated all the gains made since 2000 under Ganguly and later Dhoni. Since 2000 we had gradually become a much better team away from home with decent performances in Eng, Aus and SA. In fact there weren't too many away series where India didn't win a match or wasn't in with a shout to win the series. But with the pathetic displays in Eng and Aus all that hard work has been erased and we are back in the same position we were in earlier - termed home track bullies or tigers at home & lambs abroad. It's not just the losses but the way we lost which was most disheartening. We didn't even put up much of a fight and our team looked like they would be happier anywhere but on the field. The added fallout of these performances is that the legacy of our batsmen has also taken a hit and unless they redeem themselves in the remaining innings in Aus majority of fans will remember them for struggling to score in Eng and Aus rather than the run scoring machines they were.

I am not talking about shorter format but tests, especially while traveling outside the subcontinent. Yes, being ranked no. 1 in Tests was great but we still haven't managed to beat either Aus or SA at home which rankles. And on top we have reverted to 90s with batsmen showing no gumption for a fight on pitches which may not be flat but definitely not the minefields our batsmen have made them out to be.

We are definitely behind Eng, Sa and Aus at the moment. All theose teams have young players who have broken through whereas we have no decent replacements. At best we can fight for 4th place against the likes of SL & Pak, and hope to continue having a great record at home coz I don't see us much away anymore.

No 300+ totals for 10-12 away tests added with the 4-0 whitewash is perhaps the lowest point of our cricket in the last 20-25 years.

It's shocking that we have managed to cross 300 just once in our last 17 innings away from home!!! :omg::yikes: I mean how can we even expect a win with such pathetic batting. Honestly we are no better than Pakistan and B'desh as far as our batting is concerned. Our team, especially batsmen, are long in the tooth and we need to blood in youngsters ASAP. We are becoming NY Jets of intl cricket, i.e. laughing stock and Fletcher can definitely give rex Ryan a run for his money :haha:

I have high hopes from the likes of Pujara, Rohit and Rahane. You can't lynch someone without giving him a chance. Indian selectors need to keep that in mind.
