Maybe that is our only chance to NOT lose... when we are trying to NOT win. so Indians should simply not try to over take Australia in runs but try and keep their wickets (yea I know.. slim possibility). hey that gives me a little bit of hope :P We need our tuk tuk masters to do it for us.

Yes a test match which is not completed within the limited time frame is a draw, doesn't matter how you do it. "complete" here means none of the teams win, it's not a tie.

Australia will declare after 600 giving them an impossible to beat 400 run lead. That would stll leave 230 odd overs for India to bat out or score at a fast enough rate to beat that lead. Both are next to impossible.

All hypothetical of course.. but if Indians are not looking to over-take that 400 run lead and set up a winning score for Australia to chase.. then their only task is to keep 10 wickets for 2 whole days... It sounds possible...

It sounds possible... No it doesnt. In our entire history, we have batted for more than 200 overs away from home only 4 times. Last 40 years, only once and that too in Lanka. your posts are nothing but wishful thinking

But even leaving aside that, for any team it is almost impossible to overcome a 400-run deficit. Think about it, 400 is a good score in Test matches (unless the pitch is an utter road) and takes a lot of hard work, achieving that when you are trying to save the game against a good attack would need a miracle.

Indians if they forget the score and only worry about keeping wickets until the end of 5th day.. batting out around 200 overs.. then we can draw. If Ponting and Hussey, or Ponting and Clarke can bat out so many overs.. potentially.. VVS & Dravid or Dravid and Sachin.. or Gambhir & Dhoni can also bat it out....

But they won't declare at lunch, they will get close to the lead of 400 till lunch and then come out and smash the poor souls for one more session to extend the lead to around 500. So most probably the match will be over by lunch 4th day.

Sehwag & Gambhir Partnership - to last 20 overs. Gambhir & Dravid partnership - to last 10 overs Dravid & Tendulkar partnership - to last 60 overs Tendulkar & VVS partnership - to last 40 overs VVS & Kohli Partnership - to last 20 overs Kohli & Dhoni Partnership - to last 25 overs Dhoni & Ashwin Partnership - to last 15 overs Tail-enders all combined = (2 wickets) = 10 overs That takes us to 200 overs. .. which is 2 days and 2 hours... pretty much to bat out until end of day 5. Our "world famous" batting line up should deliver at least SOME portion of that.
