King
As a batsman your first 30-40 minutes at the crease are most dangerous, you can get out any time, Even bowler, fielders are trying that bit harder. But once you pass 30 odd runs and have played 70 odd deliveries you should make it count. Ideally yes but we know Sachin Tendulkar has the maximum 100s and he has played over 200 innings to get there. 100s don't happen ever other day. Although the first few balls are the ones that require more attention all it takes is one ball to get out. Take for instance Vaughan or Strauss. They played long enough but they couldn't go on. All though it is ideal to build on the start and get a big one it won't happen every game. Link to comment
