BCCI in his pocket, Pawar eyes ICC NEW DELHI, Dec 19: BCCI president Sharad Pawar is thinking of throwing his hat in the ring for the post of International Cricket Council president - a move that could once again ignite an "Asia vs Rest" fight in world cricket. Indications are that the Asian countries could support and thus pit the Maratha strongman against England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief David Morgan, the nominee from the non-Asian block, at ICC's annual conference that is scheduled to be held in London in July next year. BCCI sources said that at the Asian Cricket Board meeting, which took place at Pawar's residence in New Delhi to decide the venue for the 2011 World Cup final, three nations which are part of the 10-member ICC executive board - Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - apart from India, proposed the BCCI chief's name for the post. The nomination has to be filed by December 31. Pawar, who was taken ill on Tuesday evening and might remain in hospital for a day or two, could not be reached for his comments but sources close to him said that he has not made up his mind yet and will do so after the working committee meeting in Mumbai on Saturday. He might also seek the opinion of the government before filing his nomination as he a cabinet minister. "We have decided to support Mr Pawar and if he makes his mind up, we are going to nominate him for ICC president," a top BCCI official said. http://cricket.indiatimes.com/articleshow/855707.cms
