How to publish a cricket book/autobiography for dummies

With all and sundry coming out with a book, here's an easy how to do kit for budding writers which will come in handy for the likes of Michael Vaughan, Nasser Hussain, Tony Greig etc. 1. Find a title for the book. This is just a formality and it really doesn't matter what the title is. It could very well be "Michael - the greatest captain ever", "Nasser's Rantings" or "Anyone knows who Tony is?" 2. Find a former or current player to put in a page or two (foreword) for the book. Again it's immaterial like point 1 above. 3. Note down a few pages about "Back in my days..." related to cricket. Make sure to keep these pages to a minimum (preferably less than 5) so the readers don't go to sleep. The only purpose of this section is to ensure against lawsuits related to false marketing from readers who bought the book under the impression it was cricket related. 4. Now put in some juicy stuff which may or may not be true. Refer some jokes or humor sites on internet. For example take a bar joke from the internet and change "A man walks into a bar and there's a monkey..." to "I walk into the bar and there's Botham....". You will be amazed how much material is already available on the net. This should make around 80% of the book, but ensure there are at least a few fresh jokes. 5. Now comes the most important part which will probably determine the success of the book. Find ways to slate India, Indians, IPL, BCCI or anything related to India. The more you put down the afore-mentioned the better. It may not have anything to offer but look at the upside - Lankans, Pakis, Aussies (like Malcolm Conn and current & formerplayers), England (current & former players) will be your target audience. Plus plenty of Indians (if you slate SRT Sachin fans will read the book, of you slate Dhoni, Dhoni fans will lap it up etc.). Hope you get the picture. Simply make stuff up related to cricket or otherwise. Preferably do so related to popular Indian players like SRT, Dhoni etc. Don't worry even if the stuff is so outlandish thatit's laughable like "Sachin was scared to face me" even though you have been carted around for 18 in an over and didn't want to bowl to him. 6. Now comes the 2nd most important part. Hold a press release function in various countries and focus on point 5. Simply lambast India and Indian players and you have hit paydirt :two_thumbs_up:
