The two of them made no announcement about retiring, hoping, no doubt, to eke out another year or two in Test cricket, but they remained silent in the light of their horror season. In contrast, Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated a noisy celebration of himself.

To appreciate the tin-eared narcissism of this.....

There's a bizarrely funny photograph of Tendulkar at a press conference in a shiny shirt, flanked by two anonymous corporate men. One holds a special Coke can that commemorates the 100th hundred and the other man is holding an Adidas shoe. Tendulkar stands in the middle, with a shoe in one hand and a can in the other, like a shaman about to divine the hidden with the help of unlike fetishes.

I get this from your own posts. In post#71 you proclaim that there is not one statement from SRT about loss to BD ... I just proved to you that this is a big fat lie hence you are dishonest. :nice:

What about the other stuff like... The guy chose personal milestone ahead of the team, took the easy way out by never showing up for any media interaction over the last year when even newbies like Ashwin were made to face the media after regular thrashings, has made delusional statements like "the difference between Aus and Ind was that Aus had one big partnership" or "it's unpatriotic to leave when you are at the top" and folks who have called him out for the same are 'dishonest" :cantstop: So it's ok for people to call for Laxman & Dravid's head, to take shots at Sehwag & Gambhir when they open their mouths to make deluded statements, to lampoon Dhoni for nearly losing us the game when he left the charge a bit too late vs Aus during the CB Series, but if a similar yarstick is applied to SRT all hell breaks loose :facepalm: Methinks you are being intellectually dishonest having a different yardstick for others compared to SRT :winky: If anyone else does it, have a go at the player but if SRT does the same or worse that's ok coz he "dedictaed his life to the team" :giggle:

Yup sure everyone is lying like the author who wrote the article in the OP or anyone who questions SRT :haha: And I did watch the interview and SRT says nothing about his "go slow" an how it cost team the match. He in fact goes on to say how B'desh is a very good team :hysterical: And obviously you won't touch the points raised in this thread with a 10 foot pole coz there's no way to put a positive spin on how the team took a backseat to SRT in his quest for reaching the milestone.

I see that you left out certin parts of my post. Here's my post to give you a context..

Fair enough but a bit more candor in admitting the loss was due to that innings and a bit more disappointment at losing to Bangbros and ousted from Asia Cup would have been in order. Obviously scoring 100 intl 100s is no mean feat and I doubt the record will ever be broken but surely not even a statement about loss to B'desh and India's ouster? SRT kept on talking about how great he has been and how "unpatriotic" it would be for him to "go out on the top" etc. but nothing to acknowledge how he contributed to the loss? This sense of delusion and his priorities not the same as team's is what author highlighted and this is exactly what I agree with.

The bold part is what you left out. See the part about SRT's contribution to the loss and a bit of remorse/candor regarding the same? Can you show me that part in the interview? I am sure you will not be able to and surely it's not a surprize since you go out of the way to bring up posts from another thread with no bearing on the tpic at hand and now you are quoting posts selectively to prove others are "lying" :haha: The only chap who comes out looking a lier and dishonest as you claim others to be is you :haha: Maybe you are not doing it on purpose just like SRT wasn't selfish in Asia Cup :giggle:

Yup but he did call out SRT regarding his objectives not in synch with the team's and SRT being bigger than the team. Valid points IMO but I guess for folks like BB SRT is off limits to any criticism :giggle:

It is because of the cheap shots taken at SRT. Ofcourse we have gotten used to absense of facts but I guess we should now expect cheap shots as part of supposed balanced articles and criticism.

What cheap shots? Every point is valid for which no argument has been put forward. SRT did cost the team the match against B'desh. He did put himself ahead of the team. He did cower from media interactions when things were not going well in Eng & Aus and coming out with the media blitz after the 100th 100 against BangBros :giggle: Add to that delusional statements like "unpatriotic leaving at the top" and "only difference between Ind & Aus was one big partnership" and the author is spot on.
