Harmison had 1-2 decent series and looked like a lost puppy most of the times. Flintoff cannot be termed as a great fast bowler in any discussion. They are not the gold standard against whom batsmen's performance is judged. If you can't score against the likes of Donald' date=' Ambrose, Ws and then suddenly start scoring once these guys are retired and score against the likes of Harmison & Flintoff it'd a negative against you.[/quote'] Steve Harmison was number one bowler in ICC Rankings in 2004 for almost a year...Injuries hit Pommies after winning Ashes in 2005...Simon Jones was never the same bowler... Flintoff is pretty much under rated...just take a look at his spell against India in 2003 World cup...!

One odd spell doesn't make Flintoff a great as I can point to Nehra's spell as well in the very same match :giggle: As for Harmison surely he can't even be considered a "good" fast bowler historically.

so who according to u is ?
Already mentioned earlier... Ambrose, Walsh, Wasim, Waqar, Donald, McGrath, Steyn. Akhtar is on the line as he didn't play to many Tests and missed more Tests than he played. Unfortunately 2000s was pretty poor as far as quality pacers go and Hayden cashed in. One of the luckiest players IMO who was found out against quality bowlers in 90s and came back to resurrect his career once the greats had retired from the game.
