we must develop ties with israel and Japan...and this coalition of Japan, Australia, India and USA is necessary... the present time is very crucial for all the countries in indian sub continent and neighbouring countries... we can not afford to lag behind in this race...else we will be left with catching up...for decades to come... we need visionaries in india..Manmohan is one...but he is not allowed to work freely... welcome Abe saan....( swagat hai Abe Ji)

didnt know aussies had an army worth noting...
They did and they still do. Australia was a major player in WWII and Canada for eg, was of tremendous consequence in WWI. But this 'alliance' is still to be wary of because of the presence of the US. The US's worldview and its circle of friends are NOT to our interests, so getting too cozy with the US-led coalition of any sort will be disastrous for us. IMO, India is far better off being a bit bolder but also a bit craftier than simply trying to 'buddy up' to the Big Cheese of the world (US) and whore itself to the US. We are far better off trying to build power (economic, military & political) in South-East Asia And SAARC, keeping a close military & political connection with Russia, France, Germany, Japan, Canada,South Africa,Libya, Brazil & Australia, with military only connection with Israel. US cannot be trusted nor can it be befriended. No country can be a world power without enjoying an advantageous position in its own backyard. We are far better off trying to build & solidify ties(economic, political & military) with Iran, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirghizthan, Tadjikistan, etc.
