Yes, after world cup he hasn't looked good for sustained period of time. But then World cup was not long ago World cup was not ages ago. We have completed little over one year only since then. Gautam Gambhir, Virendra Sehwag has been out of form much longer than that. Was in dream form in WC and time approaching to WC He was in dream form in world cup and just before that. Second highest scorer in WC with no cheap runs to boost overall tally. (Centuries against SA and Eng. Half Centuries against Aus and Pak). Just before WC, he had best ever tour of SA with scoring runs at an average of 81.5 - of course best indian batsmen on tour. Just before that he won a test match against Aus almost single handedly at Bangalore and scored a doiuble hundred in SL. All of that wasn't really long ago. In Aus, he didn't succeed but didn't fail exactly I agree, he didn't really succeed in Eng and Aus. But I would not say that he was abject failure and if based on these performances , it can be concluded that age is catching up. I had watched every single ball of Melbourne test and he was definitely best batsmen of that test match from both sides. Of course he top-scored both of Indian innings. I am not highlighting a mere statistical fact, he really played very comfotably and in dominant manner. Reason of our loss in that test match was that other batsmen failed to support Sachin which resulted in him coming under lots of pressure and may have succumbed to that eventually. From that test onwards, India fell behind decidedly and Sachin's performance also petered away. Still Cricinfo had rated him second best performer of the tour after Kohli. (He was given 5 marks. Dravid 2, Laxman 1 and Dhoni 0.5 http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/story/551482.html My conclusion is that, no doubt he is struggling at the moment but age can't be concluded as main reason behind that, not as of now. I suspect all this backlash against Sachin once again is result of over scrutiny that he is put against. We have made this mistake (of over scrutinizing) many times earlier as well. My point of view is we definitely need him in Test Matches and can probably do away with ODI's.

Do you even look at the facts before typing on this forum? Who is scoring runs? He was second highest scorer on both Eng and Australian tours. Make every other player retire as well as none of them are scoring runs.

Yes - because the others are not scoring runs that makes Tendulkar not scoring runs invisible! :wizard: Also, I never made the point of "retiring". A player is free to retire when he wants to. I do not want to pick someone who has a dodgy future AND is not performing since 3 tours - home/abroad.
