coverpoint
Since the departure of the much maligned GC our fielding and catching has really become absymal. England seems to be running singles even when the ball is hit straight to the fielders. Our catching is worse. Today even the young RP dropped a sitter in the outfield. Our running is bad. To top it all our strategies in the field are non existent. Time we got a real coach back! Link to comment
abhinav
I tend to agree CP..I have repeatedly said that fielding is one aspect that depicts the level of discipline and commitment that a team has. Rightnow, our fielding is abject, despite having a dedicated fielding coach!! To call these fielding lapses as exceptions will be fool hardy, we definitely need a coach for this team, someone to whom people will listen to and someone who can get some discipline back. coverpoint
To add to it look at the no balls our bowlers keep bowling. Compare to a phase during GC's time when the same bowling squad gave close to zero extras. This over Munna has bowled atleast 2 no balls (total 5 so far). All these extra deliveries .... abhinav
No coach in the world will make dada a good fielder One, its not just about Dada; its aboyut the whole team, about the younger lads who can hold on to regulation catches. the coach wont go and do the catching for them but can atleast make them give their 100% on the field. Two, England sttruggling against a coach less India doesnt mean that a coach is not needed. England are quite poor, worse then india when it comes to ODI cricket. its the sterner tests ahead like the ones ahead against Aussies where it may all come back to haunt us. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Apart from RP drop we are fielding well today. No idea why but we are! Link to comment
