CricLind Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Don't you people feel that Ian Chappell and co rate him far too highly? He had an excellent debut Ranji reason 2 years ago, but after that, apart from the U19 tournaments, he hasn't done anything of note. So, why exactly is he rated so highly? I saw the U19 final and it was a good innings but the fielding was terrible from the Oz boys. On a related note, I seem to remember that one of our U19 WC batsmen was injured just before the WC, Manan Vohra or someone, and a replacement was sent. What I don't get is why Ankit Bawne was not a part of the U19 side? At the time of the WC, he met the requirements since he is still <20. In fact, if one looks at the records of Unmkut and Ankit, we can see that they are only 100 days apart in age. But, against an average of 36.75 for Unmkut, Ankit has an average of 47.48, including the current matches taking place. He has scored 5 hundreds to Unmukt's sole hundred. His low SR suggests that here is a batsman willing to grind it out. He is also 19. So, why doesn't one hear about this guy at all?
