Finally good sense prevails on the BCCI. Matches will start at 12 and not at 2.30 PM as is the norm for D/N games in India Apparently broadcasters are not happy as they would not be able to extend the match into the prime time TV slot (8PM-10PM)

The BCCI confirmed that the start times for the day-night encounters between India and England have been changed. The first 4 matches to be played at Rajkot, Kochi, Ranchi and Mohali respectively, have been slated to commence at noon. The timings of matches have been revised to counter the 'dew' factor and ensure the best playing conditions for both teams. The session-wise timings will be as follows: First Session: 12pm to 3:30pm Interval: 3:30pm to 4:15pm Second Session: 4:15pm to 7:45pm The last ODI, to be played at Dharamsala, will commence at 9am. Schedule for the ODI series: 11 January: 1st ODI, Rajkot (D/N) 15 January: 2nd ODI, Kochi, (D/N) 19 January: 3rd ODI, Ranchi (D/N) 23 January: 4th ODI, Mohali (D/N) 27 January: 5th ODI, Dharamsala

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has advanced the timings of the day-night one-day matches to be played over the next one month. Instead of the regular 2.30 pm start, the day-nighters will begin at 12 noon. India are scheduled to play three ODIs against Pakistan in December-January followed by five 50-50 games against England. The raison dÃÆtre, apparently, is to eliminate the dew factor. Given that itÃÔ winter, dew comes into play in the second half of the game and the BCCIÃÔ explanation is that an early start would save the ball from getting wet. Whether the BCCIÃÔ broadcast partners have agreed to the new timing is not known but the early starts are set to have an impact on revenue. New Delhi, which hosts the third ODI against Pakistan on January 6 and Dharamsala, which holds the fifth and final ODI against England on January 27, had made a request for early starts. The board also received similar requests from Kolkata, where the second ODI will be played against Pakistan and Chandigarh, scheduled to hold the fourth ODI against England on January 23. Keeping the weather factor in mind, the BCCI has decided to start all day-night games at 12 noon.
