Why do they keep picking Rahane in test squad?

People say someone is more talented, better suited to some formats. That maybe true in some cases, but majority of the times, I believe a batsman does well when he is in good form and carries some confidence. This is where Dhoni has been good. He backs players who show confidence in their ability irrespective of mediocre performance. People who shy away from responsibility and those who aren't in the best frame of mind seldom perform at the highest level. This clearly seems to be the case with Rahane and Rohit. People like Vijay and Dhawan who are not as sound technically, have done well because of the confidence with which they play.
