He tried too hard to field well, did his hamstring instead.

Gilchrist revealed that he and his teammates were keen to play once rain stopped. "We were in a pretty strong position and the conditions were conducive for our bowlers. Sachin was out for zero and that was a good position," Gilchrist said after the match. "I was happy to lead my team out there (after the rain ceased) but the Match Referee and the umpires ruled that the ground was not fit for a match and we had to go by that," he added. The Australian captain, however, admitted that 308 was tough but a gettable target in such a day-night matches and it was too premature to claim that his side would have won the match had it been played full 50 overs. His opposite number Mahendra Singh Dhoni, however, took a jibe at his comment and said playing in that condition could have backfired. "Bahaduri aur beokufi ke beech bahot kam fark hai (there is a very thin line separating bravery from foolhardy)", was his terse response. Dhoni felt his bowlers got a good start when they reduced the visitors to 90 for four but rued they could not go for the kill. "Despite getting a good start, we did not do well from 32nd to 42nd overs. We badly needed a wicket at that stage but it did not come," he rued. Michael Clarke (130) and Brad Haddin (69) shared a 144-run stand to frustrate the Indians and lay foundation for an imposing total. Dhoni also informed that Sourav Ganguly had sustained an hamstring injury while fielding and would require an MRI on Sunday.

Ganguly has been one of our best batsmen in either forms of the game, recently. Tendulkar seems to be a bigger liability than Ganguly against the Aussies. He averages in single digits in the last 10 games against them. But its a shame that Uthappa, Sehwag & Rohit sit out to accomodate the big three. They all deserve to play ahead of the big three, against the Aussies.
