Yuvraj4Captaincy
More than one selector told The Hindu that Ganguly’s approach in one of the Power Play’s was not in the interests of the team More THAN ONE selectors, captain, vice captian wont just pick on a senior player for no reasons. I am off GOOD NITE :hysterical: You keep changing your argument every post. I told you earlier, that ganguly was not faultless. I gave you the %'s of the blame too! I also told you that Ganguly should be dropped. But blaming him for Yuvraj's and Dravid's brainfart is wrong. Link to comment
castled
This is what I have done few days after that game. Did not get to post it. Not prepared as a full post. Its just what I was thinking and what I found. Successful chases of 300+ I found. Top scorer with scoring rates. India: Won 5 times chasing 315(124of138 sr90), 302(92 of 109sr84), 326(87of75sr116), 325(109of124sr88), 317(94of81sr116) Australia: Won twice chasing 316(124of129sr96) and 327(92of107sr86) England: Won twice chasing 305(84of60sr140) and 301(100of91sr101) Pakistan: Won twice chasing 316(65of65sr100) and 305(101of111sr91) South Africa: Won twice chasing 305(139of142sr98) and 438(175of111sr158) Sri Lanka: Won 4 times chasing 313(88of61sr144),303(120of111sr108),313(89of71sr125),322(152of99sr154) NZ: Won 3 times chasing 332(101of96sr105),337(117of127sr92,347(117of96sr122) West Indies: ------ Few things in successfully chasing a big target: Flying start/ losing few wickets/not falling behind the required rate much/luck. But one thing is common to most of these matches: The top scorer scored the runs at 90+ scoring rate. I am not saying Ganguly is the reason for the loss, as in high scoring matches if a team reaches almost near the target the analysis for winning and losing games would most likely be very similar. But he could have won us the game had he improved the scoring rate more than what he did, given that he was the in-batsman! Link to comment
