After reading a few articles, the main point of contention is the below ( though it is not directly related to the concerned agreement ). The deal proposes reforms that will promote free trade and simplified customs regulations,etc. Implicitly, the signers of the agreement need to ensure that their import and export tariff policies,etc do not hamper real price discovery... India's position is that, for developing countries, it is important for governments to provide food subsidy/security...This involves buying rice/wheat from farmers at higher prices ( MSP ) and subsidizing it for the poor...This is against free price discovery as per developed nations... An offer was made that India will not be challenged for food subsidy for 4 years?? but it was not acceptable...

Where else would the Monsantos of the world find such a market to dump their junk?
