SachDan
Gary Kirsten was a brilliant player. He knew exactly how to pace an innings. He had all the right shots for an opener. Once he got in, it was very difficult to get rid of him. He knew when to score and what pace to bat at and that made all the difference. He was pretty much always successful against us and scored two hundreds in Kolkata. Contrary to what some people say, he was not a frustrating batsman to bowl to. He was always an attacking player. He was very, very smart and shrewd in the sense that he knew when to attack and when to defend. But, at the end of the day, he was an attacking player. He did not believe in simply blocking.
