It is a mere formality now but I guess this gives him closure. I wish he had gotten a longer run to play for India. But he didn't - he had eight digit scores in the last ten test innings he played. He averaged around 7 over the last two series he played against Aus and Pak.

I remember sachin strongly supported Akash Chopra saying he deserves more chances but Sourav gave interviews that he wants Wasim jaffer in the team ahead of Akash. Again, sachin supported akash in the media but saurav again said he wants wasim jaffer. Wasim got his chance and Akash never made a come back after that. That issue was somehow kept under the carpet.
