Smaller Grounds

Smaller grounds are more serious than we think. On smaller grounds, sometimes we see the batsmen clear the boundary by a long distance and assume that the same shot would have cleared the boundary on a bigger ground. This assumption is wrong actually. When you have short boundaries, modern batsmen with their tree sized bats do not have any hesitation in going for big shots. They are confident that even mishits could go for six on these roads with their monster bats. On bigger grounds, batsmen will not take so many chances because they know mishits could mean dismissal. More confidence on smaller grounds mean less pressure and hence mishits also occur less frequently. Hitting sixes on bigger grounds is an entirely different thing compared to hitting similar sixes on smaller grounds. Even if the sixes carry to the same distance. There is a great risk while attempting a six on a big ground - and this means pressure on the batsman while executing those strokes. Mishits also occur more frequently on big grounds for the same reason. :ohmy:
