So this is apparently coming.. should have for seen this.. the future will be robot players playing the game too and will be a battle between the best software developers a country can produce.. all looking like a game changing plan by the icc to make the USA a leading cricket team

TBH,modern day umpire's are slowly turning into robots anyway. Every single No-ball/Run-Out doubt is referred upstairs and DRS is a vital element with regards to LBW/caught behind.

All the umps are seen going nowadays is :

But dont think this will happen atleast for the next 5-7 years.Maybe even 10. The tech needs to be full proof and plus ppl need to accept it.

The human element is the key.

Maybe some robot that is not completely autonomous but is reacting to real time instructions from the 3rd ump room will work.

Plus it's ability will have to be super good inorder to move away from the action.

Or they could come up with a virtual umpire using projectors.

From my limited understanding, machine learning can add great value to adjudicating LBW decisions. Something like AlphaGo can go a great deal in eliminating all elements of doubt from such decisions.

You won't need all...just a upgraded version of the current ball tracking system will be enough.
