Chandan
Re: Kyunki Chappal bhi kabhi player tha.. http://indiancricketfans.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3946 I've given my ideas here. I'll repeat the post: think India will have to follow two plans: Long term and short term . Long term will be to improve the overall standard of our cricket and it'll obviously take time. This plan we can discuss later. Short term would be look into the immediate problems of the team and solve them as much as possible. This should be to rebuild our ODI team for WC 2011. IMO, 1.We should change the coach and the captain. 2. 4 players should be asked to leave the ODI cricket: Sachin, Saurav, Kumble and Dravid. We'd need fresh talent here. 3. Harbhajan should be given at least one years break to play the domestic cricket and rediscover his magic. 4. Youngsters will have to be given chance and be persisted with despite failure in the intial year.I'd like to have Manoj Tiwari, Rohit Sharma (though I still suspect his ability to play short pitch deliveries), Suresh Raina and few others along with Yuvi and Sehwag in the batting pool. 5. On the bowling front, rest Munaf from ODIs and save him for tests only. We can introduce Ishant Sharma and Abu Nacheem and keep YoMahesh in reserve along with Zaheer and Sree. 6.On allrounders front, play Pathan in every ODI. We have few bowlers who can bat in the domestic cricket too. They should be tested. Chawla should be given an ODI birth and a long run. He is our future spinner. 7. Who'll be the captain? This is the most tricky question. Can you suggest a name? On second thought, I'd like to retain Dravid for one more year so that a new captain can be groomed properly. BCCI will have to decide about the VC very carefully then. Link to comment
Gambit
Re: Kyunki Chappal bhi kabhi player tha.. I disagree with resting Munaf. He's 23 years old. He doesn't need to be rested. He is our best ODI bowler to boot. SRT and SCG should be asked to take temporary retirement from ODI cricket but form and fitness willing, they should be asked to come back if need be after 2 years. I would choose this lineup for our next ODI: Uthappa <no idea> Pathan Yuvraj Dravid Karthik Dhoni Powar Munaf Sreesanth Zaheer Zaheer Link to comment
Chandan
Re: Kyunki Chappal bhi kabhi player tha.. Players should not give media statements: BCCI Rajkot, April. 4 (PTI): Taking exception to Sachin Tendulkar's outburst against coach Greg Chappell, the Cricket Board today cautioned players to refrain from giving statements to the media and instead advised them to approach the BCCI to air their complaints if they have any. "The players should not give media statements. Whatever their complaints are they should tell them to the board which will be discussed by the members and an appropriate decision will be taken," BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah told reporters here today. The BCCI official was reacting to the statement given by Tendulkar to a national daily hitting out at coach Greg Chappell for his reported comments on senior players in the report he is to submit to the board during the World Cup review meeting in Mumbai on April 6. "We don't want to react to Sachin Tendulkar's reported statement to the media but we wish to say that the appointment of the new coach of the Indian team (whether to retain Chappell or name someone else) will be taken at the Working Committee meeting on April 7. "All decisions taken at the meeting will be based on the tour reports to be submitted on the World Cup performance of the team by the manager (Sanjay Jagdale) and coach," he said. -------------------- BCCI has started taking the steps before 6th of April?? And Gambit I don't want a clumsy sloppy Munaf in ODI. If he improves his fitness, we can consider him. If not, let him be just a test specialist. And FYI, Karthik has been a brilliant opener at A level. Link to comment
Gambit
Re: Kyunki Chappal bhi kabhi player tha.. Oops. Even one Zaheer is a nightmare(if that SCG/ZK/SS story is to be believed). Munaf might be clumsy and sloppy but he is our best bowler. Fielding can be worked on. Look at Walsh, pre-wc Murali. Worst fielders ever. But they were not dropped because their strengths massively outweighed their weaknesses. Link to comment

(1) Chappel received a hard kick on his arse and ran away. (OK and acceptable so far to me) (2) Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the new Captain of team India coz Dravid "re-signed" during meeting?? (3) Sandip Patil is the new coach?? Jai Maharashtra?? :wall:  Link to comment

Chandan
Re: Kyunki Chappal bhi kabhi player tha.. April 6th is going to be a big big day. We'll get the reality that day because apart from the SMS to Rajan Bala, every story has just been rubbish. This is what I found in archives. Not sure if was published in January, 2007 or 2006. 'Sachin carries greater load of expectations than Bradman': Chappall Sydney First Published: 00:00 IST(3/1/2007) Last Updated: 20:47 IST(7/1/2006) Looking back over the past eight months of his coaching stint with India, Greg Chappell says he was yet to fully grasp the enormity, complexity and occasional danger of his role. "There is nothing like it in world cricket or even world sport," Chappell said. "May be there are some similarities in Brazil with soccer but, then again, they aren't dealing with these kind of numbers," he was quoted as saying by 'Sydney Morning Herald' on Saturday The Australian great also said it was the expectation of a billion people and the often overpowering hype which proved just how resilient the Indian players were. "Sachin Tendulkar carries a weight of collective expectation to the crease that few can comprehend. Bradman would not have had the weight of expectation that Sachin has on him every time he went out to bat," he said. "You can't just look at his statistical record. That's not even close to summing up what he is and what he has done. "He has been the great hope of this country for 16 or 17 years. Because India, as a team, has not been as successful as other teams over the years, the expectations of the nation have tended to shift onto the shoulders of the individuals," Chappell said.
