jf1gp_1
1. Shastri as Indian team manager plus coach but he is more of a manager than coach. No coaching exp never lead a team hence he makes no promises. 2. Prasad as bowling coach will be coaching zaheer, ajit two guys who were responsible for his early exit from Indian team. Will zaheer or ajit listen to him ? add to that a lazy munaf and super-star pathan. The only one prasad will be coaching is sreesanth and rp singh/vrv if they make a comeback. 3. Robin singh our fielding coach, i admire this guy a true fighter but what exactly will he be doing ? i dont believe ganguly or sachin or sehwag are going to give him 5 rounds of field if he asks them to. and mind you all the above only for BD tour. So after BD tour are we going to look for replacements for every one of them ? Now my major concern if we indeed go and select a young team for BD tour with 5-6 players making debut and if this team loses to BD then what next ? return of seniors ?? is there a plan ? for now any plan will do . If youth is the way forward then BCCI and fans needs to follow a simple cricket rule, give morning to the bowlers ( in our case opposition teams) and the rest of the day is yours... Link to comment
Ram
Re: Where the hell are we going ??? You dont understand... When you are under pressure ( As BCCI is right now) , its not only important that you do something , but its also important you are seen to be doing something.. Thts exactly what BCCI is doing now. Make a series of high-profie announcements so that nobody can question them later saying " why was the BCCI so inactive ??".. Wonder what the players make out of these appointments though... Bumper
Re: Where the hell are we going ??? Shastri has made it clear that his appointment is only interim. ESPN does not have the rights to the Ind-BD series & hence he is free at this time. Beyond that, BCCI will have to hire a full time coach. Link to comment

Beyond that' date=' BCCI will have to hire a full time coach.[/quote'] ESPN can hardly match tht compensation tht BCCI will lay on the table, if it does decide to go with Shastri..... i think, the BD tour will be a good test for him.... he is also playing his cards right, by acting pricey.... everyone and their grannies know, he will strip if offered Greggie's compensation.... They have already started questioning credentials of Ravi Shastri.. :hic: talk about the love is blind... :hic: People need to rise above the individuals and should support Team India. So is his overall fitness. He took a couple of wonderful catches notably the one he caught running backward. So i think he has really spent his break in the gym getting fitter. Link to comment

Mandrake
Re: Where the hell are we going ??? I for one am mighty confused abt Shastri's role..if he is a long term coach prospect then why has he been appointed a team manager  Also...why this fuss over Shastri...its not that he has any coaching experience behind him. BCCI is trying its best to divide and rule. Aaj Tak has reported that following players may be dropped from the team: Sachin Ganguly Bhajji Agarkar Zaheer Sehwag And one more. Can't remember the name. So....there we go...back to the dark ages!! A team change without any smooth transition!! Link to comment
yoda
Re: Where the hell are we going ??? I think this seven player dropping is just for the Bangla series to give some youngsters a chance, more like the "India Blue team" as opposed to the "India Seniors". I don't think it is a good idea. Would rather see players like Sachin, Bhajji and Agarkar dropped permanently from the test team and Sehwag, Ganguly, Bhajji, Agarkar dropped permanently from the ODI team. Link to comment
