King
Whatever happened to that now? BCCI was going to put a tab on number of sponsors and all sorts of things were being said about Indian player's income then. Whatever happened now? BCCI is gifting away cars, sponsors are gifting away houses and am sure a lot of business houses are queing up to make their contribution. Wonder how BCCI is now going to control the number of sponsors the players can sign up with considering BCCI is one of the first ones to pay millions to the players after the T20 WC win? kablooee87
Short term thinking. There is one (maybe 2 ) cricket board(s) in the world who aren't plagued by thinking only about the short term. Link to comment
yoda
controlling number of sponsors (as opposed to ad days during season) was a bad idea. so is this lavish dumping of money on these guys. Link to comment
Chandan
Both are terrible ideas!! Ravi, Players earn endorsements through their performance. But this lavish cash dumpings on players shows how mad BCCI is! In the end, players might not get even a penny of what has been promised by BCCI---it has happened many times. But they want to keep themselves in the limelight through other's performance (even failure) as much as possible! That is why Sharad Powar is BCCI's president---to bask in limelight!! Link to comment

Ram
BCCI's plan to limit number of sponsors was never going to work. Ofcourse , that "plan" was part of a BCCI idea to seem to be doing something after the world cup , so that the focus shifts to the players. Former players were called in , meetings held , but nothing ever happened. Wow , is that something new ? And the entry of ICL was also a big blessing in disguise for the players and increased their bargaining powers wrt BCCI. The players know they are the biggest asset of BCCI and will try to take maximum use of that. The BCCI knows it cant allow the players to feel too important about themselves. Quite an interesting power struggle this. Link to comment
