Re: Announced - Tim Nielsen - Australia's New Coach

i dun think it matters wich coach australia have' date=' the players are so good quality that theyll win. it wasnt because of buchanan.[/quote'] You are right to some extent, but you also hve to admit that Australia became an excellent fielding side only after Buchanan took over. As good as they were before, not everyone pulled their weight until Buchanan arrived. His new fitness regimens and innovative training practices like throwing with both hands, etc. were valuable contributions. He also played a huge role in shaping the careers of former misfits like Andrew Symonds - an absolute sh*theap of a cricketer until that WC in '03 when he was called up as a replacement for Steve Waugh and did marvellously well. It will be interesting to see how the new look Australian side progesses under this new guy...coaches aren't the wizards they are made out to be sometimes, but they do make a significant impact on the teams they manage.

Re: Announced - Tim Nielsen - Australia's New Coach Buchanan worked in the background hence not many will know his contribution in detail to Aussies cricket. I believe the coach's job is way over rated in India and Pakistan. They get reported even when they fart. Mostly players steal the lime light in Australia while coaches usually have a job description and they stick to it. No wonder you don't hear much about the coaches in Australia. Although the coach's job can't be under estimated, it shouldn't be over hyped either. We all know what Warnie thought about Buchnan's ability as a coach. In a nutshell you need players with ability to win consistently, coaches only help the cause by doing their bit.

Re: Announced - Tim Nielsen - Australia's New Coach yeah a coach doesnt make a good team, yet he adds the finishing touches and perfects small errors (fielding, batting technique etc) john wright helped ganguly unite the indian team during the WC03
