You are right about misinformation. It’s India games that are most viewed, but pak vs India is the most viewed games generally speaking. Maybe a few games are viewed more than that. however one cannot say that Indians don’t care about Pakistan India cricket match. That’s not true. In fact it’s the opposite. If Pakistan turns up more, specially in ODIs, it has a path to even more viewership.

Why did BCCI and Indian govt keep quite until 3 months before the tournament. They should have just said no right away when original MOU was signed. It would have avoided the entire drama and controversy. Or is the drama and controversy needed to posture and show “we are tough on terror haven”.

I never said that BCCI or Indian cricket cannot survive without Pakistan. Only a fool would think that. I also do not think it’s fair to say “politics should stay out of sport” and I support India’s stand on not playing cricket. My concern is the politicization and exploitation of the issue by the right wing nationalist politicians. To satisfy FATF, which is the neutral body on terrorism, Pakistan passed laws to curb terror financing, froze assets, and arrested members of groups like JeM and LET. Increased prosecutions and regular progress reports demonstrated compliance, leading to its removal from the FATF grey list in 2022, though FATF urges continued vigilance. However, there is ZERO coverage of these steps in the Indian media, which makes one question the intent when progress is not/never acknowledged. Don’t forget, the perpetrators of Samjhota express terror attack, in which 40 Pakistani nationals were killed was never investigated or brought to justice. However there is never a single mention of that anywhere either, and most Indians brush it aside as if it never happened.

But obviously, Pakistanis cannot make Bollywood movies showing these improvements and changes, nor can they can intimidate and buy out the Indian media to push their narrative.
