jf1gp_1 Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Growing up every time India visited australia, us getting hammered was give, but i also remember a lot of our batsman getting out in deep unable to clear the ground. Today thanks to bowling/field restrictions, type of tracks and bats add ropes being pulled, what should have been an easy catch 10 yrs ago today sails over fielders head. When Zim won second game against SL i was curious. Is this revival of Zim cricket ? SL just chased down 325 against us SL themselves has some good young players, so i watched highlights. All credit to Zim on winning the series but what i wrote above played a massive role in their win. Game today is so loaded against bowlers (and i see teams try putting 5 bowlers in playing XI somehow) i dont see any reason for a young cricketer to become a bowler. Need of the hour is a slogger. Every second thread on this very forum is how do we replace a quality batsman like Rahane with someone who can provide quick start. So a person who hits from 1st ball is called a slogger, cant get Dravid + Pandya combo, you either get dravid or pandya. Beside Pak (who played 4.5 bowlers in recent CT win) look at WI t20 WC win only 2 bowler (rest alrounders) same with aussies in WC15 only 3 specialist bowlers. If you arent as special as Starc or Rabada there is no place for you in modern cricket.
