veer
Re: Indian Team for World Cup Anounced thats too few batters .. 8 batters (including 2 keepers) and 8 bowlers.. we usually go with 7 batsmen, which mean we have only one spare.. Link to comment

I totally agree veer that we're one batsman short, especially since Yuvraj is not fully fit and sehwag is not fully proven as a bastman...so its a big risk they're taking and I don't know why they're taking 5 fast bowlers on WI pitches that are conducive to slow bowling as we noticed in our last series there -- where it was powar who had the largest impact on the bowling side. I like Sree a lot but I think he should have been left out for Laxman or I guess Kaif as a 12th man...at least Kaif has a lot of experience and is definitely better than Raina -- Kaif wouldn't have to play but could be substituted in for his fielding prowess...placing him at cover and yuvi at point. I'm still not sold on Kumble as a ODI bowler, I know he has a deccent record but the thing is the way he bowls, there is a complete lack of spin and he's more like a highly disciplined medium pacer tahn a true spinner so if a bastman is in good nick, its so easy to hoick kumble over and just destroy his bowling... Lets see, a if Pathan regains some bowling form we'll definitely be the side to beat as we can play 7 quality batmsan and 5 bowlers plus Tendulkar who's bowled better than most of our specialistists! Guest dada_rocks
Re: Indian Team for World Cup Anounced Kumble loses the plot when hit in odis.. to start with he can hardly spin the ball and to make matetrs worse if he gets hit starts pushing the ball like a very very slow medium pacer at 100 kph..don't think anyone is going to be worried by those kind of deliveries Link to comment

kabira
Re: Indian Team for World Cup Anounced selectors have gone for experience..I would think Powar would have been handy... We need fully fit Yuvi firing all cylinders...I reckon he is the key... Link to comment
gs
Re: Indian Team for World Cup Anounced Powar would have been very handy. I guess, the selectors have chosen the safe path by going for experience. As far as batting is concerned with SRT and SCG back to their best, the selectors must have been relieved and chosen only 7 batters. Hope Yuvraj recovers well enough to contribute as well. omf52
Re: Indian Team for World Cup Anounced If we are going to play Sehwag, we have to open with him. I think Pathan deserves his place in the side. He's a decent batter, and is potentially a fantastic bowler. I still think he can regain his bowling form of old, its a matter of confidence in his own ability. Also, you put your most solid batsmen at 3, so I'd put Dravid there. Tendulkar can come lower down and play his attacking game, which is more natural to him then his current role (to stay till the end). Harby and Kumble can interchange. So can Agarkar and Sreesanth (who did well in WI last tour). Depends on the pitch really. Uthappa/Sehwag Ganguly Dravid Yuvraj Tendulkar Dhoni Pathan Agarkar/Sreesanth Harbhajan/Kumble Zaheer Munaf Patel Link to comment
