India right now needs their top order players to score big runs. They're not an England with a strong middle order that can afford their openers to hit out or get out with the knowledge that their team bats deep.

You could argue the Eng openers give middle order enough breathing space to get set & then explode at the end, but when one of your openers goes slow & gets out before hitting out you'll always put strain on the MO & lower order especially. Against non minnows -
