Imran Khan is another joker. He skirts the issue and does not address it at it's root. Frankly, it's too hard to do in Pak, I think. Only window dressing is possible. Let us hope for their sake, that the repercussions are minimal.
He is more sensible than any other Pakistani. Altough u r right when u say he doesnt look at the roots, yesterday he blamed Musharraf for Aus not coming because of the political rivalry.

Photo / Reuters NEW DELIHI - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has no immediate security concerns over staging the Champions Trophy in Pakistan this September, a spokesman for the governing body said today. On Tuesday Australia postponed a 30-day tour due to start this month following a recent spate of bombings, including two in Lahore on the day the decision was made. A ICC delegation will visit Pakistan from March 20 to look at security and other arrangements for the eight-team tournament. The spokesman said the possibility of moving the event out of Pakistan was not on the agenda of a two-day board meeting to be held at its Dubai headquarters from Monday. "Like any other ICC event, we will have contingency plans," he said. "For example, for last year's World Cup in West Indies, South Africa was the back-up venue. "The ICC board is the only body that can decide on the shifting of the tournament. That is not being discussed at next week's board meeting." Holders Australia are the top seeds for the biennial event, second in importance only to the World Cup. Pakistan remain confident the other teams in the tournament can convince Australia to compete. "The Champions Trophy is an event that involves eight countries. Australia is one of them," Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi said today. "We are confident the other seven nations will be able to pressurise Australia to travel." Cricket Australia said it would continue to monitor the security situation in Pakistan. "We have maintained conditions are safe for cricket in Pakistan and we hope all the participating nations will have no problems playing in the Champions Trophy," Naghmi said.

Concerns over Champions Trophy Geoff Lawson believes the postponement of Australia's tour to Pakistan may have a detrimental effect on this year's Champions Trophy. More... Concerns over Champions Trophy 14/03/2008 12:19:53 PM PA Sport and Sportal Geoff Lawson believes the postponement of Australia's tour to Pakistan may have a detrimental effect on this year's Champions Trophy. Cricket Australia (CA) decided to delay their tour to Pakistan due to security fears, which have escalated since the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December last year. That compelled the Pakistan Cricket Board to arrange a short one-day home series against Bangladesh, which will be held next month. But Lawson, who is the current Pakistan coach, is afraid that CA's decision may also affect the participation of other major cricket nations in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in September. "I'm fearful for the Champions Trophy," he told the News. "The Australians have set a bad example by opting out of the (Pakistan) tour and I'm not sure whether they would come here for the Champions Trophy. It would be highly unfortunate if that happens because cricket is so important for Pakistan. "Hopefully, things will get better and the tournament will be held in Pakistan according to schedule." Australia and India are set to resume their rivalry at the Champions Trophy event after the ICC announced both teams were drawn in Group A. The 2008 tournament is scheduled to take place in September and will feature the eight top ODI teams from around the world. Group A comprises of top seeds Australia along with India, Pakistan and the West Indies while Group B features South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England. Australia won the trophy for the first time in 2006 with an eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in India.

I think things like champions trophy should be played in places like Dhaka, Nairobi, Sarjah etc. On one hand, it will provide a neutral venue to all the sides and on the other, it will be good promotion of the game in those areas and of course, some income for those countries from the game.
