Pakistan paceman Mohammad Asif will miss next month's one-day international series against Bangladesh. The 25-year-old underwent elbow surgery in Australia two months ago and has not yet completed his rehabilitation. "Everybody else is fit for Bangladesh and that is a big bonus for us," Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson said. "Asif hopefully is also not too far away from playing again." The bowler was forced to miss the World Cup 12 months ago and the problem flared up again later in the year, when the decision was made to operate. However, Asif has begun bowling in the nets and is likely to take part in the Indian Premier League before returning for his country. Bangladesh have retained the 15-man squad that overwhelmed Ireland in a recent three-match series. Mohammad Ashraful will again lead the side in a five-match series that gets underway on April 8. The teams will also play a Twenty20 international.
As I've remarked earlier also all those hailing Asif as some future bowling prospect might have to reassess sans drugs.
