buddy, there is no cap in baseball. cap has to be in cricket like nba and nfl otherwise ambani and mallaya will kill the competition though high payroll doesnt gurrantee success, look at baseball and washington redskins who use novel way to buy players still they cant win anything and ofcourse best example yankees

yea true that but the salary cap must increase somehow eventually. Even with an unlimited salary cap certain restrictions can be placed bearing in mind that Ambani and Mallya are both riches of the world.

Dhoni is @ 1.5x3=4.5 for 3 years. No one is going to pay any player 3 times the current max. BTW, the article says he has been offered 4 mil for a 3 year contract and also adds his final figure could top that of Dhoni's, meaning he might negotiate for something more than 1.5/year.
