Majority of the Indian audience perceives dark skinned women as not attractive if not ugly and that's whom the cheerleaders are catering for by their titillation.
The fans themselves did not care and danced to the cheerleaders, as the cheerleaders noted. So despite the apparent bias in India, we can't conclude that the spectators thought the dark-skinned cheerleaders were not attractive. However, the fault lies in the management company...wizcraft

Agree with Shwetabh here. Many of you, blowing this up, as some kinda racist act, are missing the point completely. Cheerleaders are supposed to be eye candies. Hence the taste of the audience is the only thing that matters. Why is it that we see dozens of fair skinned Northie girls rule the Tamil movie industry ? Is the Tamil film industry unfairly discriminating against the dark skinned local girls, then ? If so, then what about Rajinikanth, how white is this man ? Is he not a superstar, inspite of his color ? Trust me, if tomorrow, dark skinned girls are the flavor of the month, we will see them around a lot more. Its very very simple. Whatever sells, works! Doesnt matter, whether it is white, black, brown or yellow. Cheerleaders & IPL are no different. I can, however, see why so many of you react this way. Its politically incorrect and morally shameful to approve of racist views & this almost sounds like one and therefore the moral police in us, has to wake up & protest, right ? WRONG. If you can see past the smoke screen, you will realize that its a simple business minded decision. Nothing more, nothing less. Unfair to some, alright, but not racist. Show that you are not a racist in real life. Thats what matters. When you choose your partner, friend, a colleague or a Boss, next time, let color or race not be a parameter for your decision. Cheerleaders in IPL, is hardly a topic to show your objectivity on racism.

Bumper, If thats all it is, this will not be an illegal act. But what they did is illegal, and they are liable to be sued. (it may not happen in India, which is a different matter). So, why does the law say such discrimination is illegal, then?

I can't speak for Tamil, but its not like there are fair, unattractive Telugu girls. But good luck bringing them out of the gates of their conservative homes.

I am not going to talk about my personal life with some unknown strangers on an internet site. On the contrary this is a cricket website and obviously we are going to discuss things related to IPL here. DUH!

The NBA & NFL is loaded with black players. Is that discrimination against the white, brown or yellow race ? Is that illegal ? Its possible that NFL or NBA could hire Indian players & then fire them later on, due to performance reasons. Would that constitute racism ?

yoda' date=' just to a search on some escort services websites and you'll see ow race/color of skin are openly stated by the girls without any lawsuits - this is regarding your titty bar example.[/quote'] Stating race is not illegal. Discriminating someone based on race is what is illegal.

Are you implying that someone states the preferred 'race', without actually discriminating against other races ?

Are you implying that someone states the preferred 'race'' date=' without actually discriminating against other races ?[/quote'] Not 'preferred', just stating their own. See shwetabh's example. He isn't saying they are stating what their 'preferred' customer race is. Anyways, back to your NFL/NBA example. This scenario with the black cheerleaders is comparable to David Stern telling a day before the draft to all the white players that they have to withdraw from the draft cause their audience would rather watch black players fly high and dunk.
