Mr. Wicket
There shouldn't have to drop someone else in order to make room for him. Does he still bowl ? If so' date=' Australia won't need to take a specialist spinner to India. Katich is more than capable of bowling up to 15 overs and he can take the odd wicket or two as well. They may as well play him as something like a batting all-rounder, because any new spin bowlers coming to India will effectively become a waste of space after the first test when they get smacked all over the place.[/quote'] That still leaves you with eight selections of Hayden, Jaques, Ponting, Katich, Clarke, Hussey, Symonds and Haddin. Ergo, three specialist quicks. Don't think Ponting will dare to risk such a lineup, which'll be looked on as overly defensive and with too many holes. Three quicks is a bad idea, especially given how hit or miss Johnson is. The nightmare scenario from there is the possibility of Clark and Lee having completed long spells and Sehwag waiting to chew up and murder either Johnson, Symonds, Michelle Clarke or Katich, without any frontline bowling reserves. Chandan
I don't think Casson is bad as he is made out to be. If Australia get square turners like they did last time, in Mumbai, he'll be more than a handful. It is just a myth that Indians destroy the spinners or smack them all over NOW. Had that been the case, SA wouldn't have risked playing his SLA bowler this time around, but he was not that disappointing. In the same way, Casson also won't disappoint that much. If Shaun Udal can claim wickets, then any spinner can, even against India. Link to comment
