Is there a team that never had a player of Indian origin?

None for Australia(unless you are counting people born in India to parents of other nationalities) but that may change with the youth brigade of young Indian players in Australia coming through like Kumar Sarna http://www.theage.com.au/news/cricket/young-star-brings-hard-fast-talents/2007/01/30/1169919336767.html Also there is Shawn Gillies(WI) and Usman Khawaja(Pak) playing in our domestic competition representing Western Australia and NSW respectively, it's just the Australian squad is a tough nut to crack with some of the top players in the world in it if you look at the ICC rankings. I believe both Gillies and Khawaja qualify to play for their countries of birth if the opportunity presents itsellf, but also would qualify as Aussies if they made the cut because they have been in Aus since they were 4.

pak & bd were once parts of india, so that makes all pak & bd players of indian origin. in sl, the tamils r of indian origin, they migrated there long time ago

Is Stuart Clark an Anglo-Indian ? He was born in Australia, but his parents "met in India". There are many Anglo-Indian hockey players who went and settled in Australia. There could be some cricketers too.

So the only team left now is Australia where we havent found a player of Indian origin yet. All other teams have played players of Indian origin. Thats quite a feat. It has happened because of the popularity of the game among Indians, the huge population of India compared to all other cricketing nations and the trend of migration.

It gives a strange sense of pride to find on net that Indian diaspora is truelly spread all over the world....Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam indeed. @OP, if you consider Sri Lanka as not being "Indian" origin (notice the difference between term Indian and Indic), then I think SL has no player of "Indian" origin. However, their "Indic" origin and ethos are same as ours.

we all have a chance to represent an international team... Lets go to some island country.. take their nationality....build a cricket team...ask BCCI to grant us Test or ODI status...and wolla...we will be playing with sachin and Dravid...albeit against them...but what the hell...we will get to shake hands with them...:cantstop:

There are two groups of Tamils in Sri Lanka; Sri Lankan Tamils and "Indian Tamils" or "Upcountry Tamils." The former group have a long history in the island whilst the latter have a history in the island that began in the colonial period under the British. While they are both Tamil groups, they differ significantly socio-economically and politically. The term "Indian Tamil" has falled out of disuse in Sri Lanka as all have been granted Sri Lankan citizenship. The term Upcountry is used because most of the "Indian Tamils" live in the mountainous central region of Sri Lanka where many work in the tea plantations that were set up by the British. The Upcountry Tamils certainly have Indian origins, and are considered People Of Indian Origin (PIO) by the Indian government, while Sri Lankan Tamils are not. Many Upcountry Tamils still have relatives/family in Tamil Nadu, whilst it would be very uncommon for a Sri Lankan Tamil to have any such connection. Murali is an upcountry Tamil and not a Sri Lankan Tamil. It is no surprise that he married an Indian Tamil. If his ancestors did not migrate to Sri Lanka in the recent past he would have been Indian :) The Sri Lankan Tamil who was on the team was Russel Arnold. I agree with sandtest about the difference between "Indian origin" and "Indic." All Sri Lankans are Indic, but not all are of Indian origin (as in the modern Indian state). However, they did originate from the landmass which is today India.

thanks to harry_d for clearing it out. i knoew some of the tamils had migrated to sl long time ago. but there were some sl tamils as well. so sl have also had players of indian origin in muralitharan
