Mr. Wicket
That's ticz for you. Hardly posts on ICF for a couple of weeks, then comes back and sticks his head up to reassure everyone when Delhi's in a tough position, unlike some fair weather fan. Welcome back ticz. If there's something in this Kotla pitch, should be interesting to see how the trio of Sangwan, Nehra and Ishant go. Link to comment

Feed
Md Nissar trophy : Preview Md Nissar trophy. More... DDCA cautious, game on New Delhi JUST HOURS ofter landing in Delhi. members of Pakistans Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL) team were wondering whether their Nissar Trophy match against Delhi would take place or not. SNGPL are set to play Ranji Champions Delhi in a four-day fixture beginning on Monday at the Ferozeshah Kotla. The team, who were staying at the Taj Palace hotel, were advised by their manager to stay in their rooms. Even as the security situation was closely monitored. "As of now we are going to continue as scheduled, unless we are directed otherwise," Saudat All Khan, manager of the team. "We are here to play an important match and hopefully we will do just that." Sunil Dev, the DDCA sports secretary said that security needed to be stepped up. "Security has to be beefed up," he said. "We are ready to host the game, we have no problems. It is up to the police now to give us the necessary clearances. We will talk to them on Sunday." But before they received instructions from the police. DDCA officials were beginning to take protective measures of their own. "We have increased the number of personnel in the private security agency that we had engaged," SP Hansal. general secretary of the DDCA. said. Apart from that, the Delhi Police has promised us more security from tomorrow. We will do everything to make sure the match goes on without a glitch. Md Nissar Trophy in Delhi NEW DELHI: Securitymen could well outnumber the spectators at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Monday when Delhi meets Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) in a four-day match for the Nissar Trophy. Enhanced security at the Kotla is a result of the bomb blasts that rocked the capital on Saturday. “We can’t take chances. We are giving security top priority,” stressed former Test opener Chetan Chauhan, now a vice-president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The match has evoked little interest among the cricket fans and the players too have approached the contest on a low key. The warm weather can not be termed conducive for any sport and spending four days on the field is obviously going to be a hard task. It would be surprising if Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir decide to play the match. Both are recovering from injuries — Sehwag still has a swollen ankle and Gambhir a niggle in the thigh. “We shall take a final decision only tomorrow morning,” assured Delhi coach Vijay Dahiya. If Sehwag does not play, young Rahul Diwan could get a look in. Delhi has some young hopefuls in Virat Kohli, seamer Pradeep Sangwan and leg-spinner Chetnya Nanda even as Ishant Sharma looked good at the nets, working up a tidy pace. For Ashish Nehra, this would be a platform to test himself ahead of the Irani Cup even as Mithun Manhas and Aakash Chopra would like to remind the selectors of their determination. Manhas and Chopra would be vital for Delhi’s batting if Sehwag and Gambir decide to opt out. “It is good to have a match like this because it allows the team to build its confidence for the season. It is an early start but then some of the big names would set the benchmark for the youngsters. We have to defend the Ranji title and every match is important,” said Dahiya. The SNGPL, the champion team from Pakistan, had light nets at the Kotla and would depend a lot on Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez to make a match of it against the strong Delhi line up. The teams (from): Delhi: Virender Sehwag (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, Mithun Manhas, Virat Kohli, Rajat Bhatia, Mayank Tehlan, Gaurav Chhabra, Puneet Bisht, Ashish Nehra, Ishant Sharma, Pradeep Sangwan, Amit Bhandari, Chetnya Nanda and Narender Singh. SNGPL: Mohammad Hafeez (captain), Adil Raza, Adnan Akmal, Asad Ali, Azhar Shafiq, Imran Ali, Imran Khalid, Khurram Shehzad, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saleem Mughal, Samiullah Khan, Tauqeer Hussain, Umar Akmal and Yasir Arafat. Umpires: Messrs Sudhir Asnani and U.L. Dubey. Link to comment

Chandan
Good partnership building. Going at about 5 per over too. But I still don't know why they didn't include Gambhir! Dhawan's injury had already weakened Delhi batting. Why did they need to make it more weak is beyond me!! Kablooee, Can you tell us anything about these bowlers? Link to comment

Chandan
Quite far. All the bombs were in market areas whereas we live in residential areas. Only those people would have been affected who are out shopping on weekends. My Mom was to go to Gaffar market for a few things but changed mind after lunch and decided to rest instead. All of us were heaving a sigh of relief in the evening even when the terrible pictures on the news channels were ripping our hearts. This is the human nature I suppose. I felt guilty for feeling a bit relieved in the beginning. Link to comment
