yes, I have Ubuntu now. A bit bloated for my liking...I am installing Arch soon. as for browsers, I like Kazehakase. Very lightweight. Has flash support. Works great. I still use FF if I need to watch any media.
I am scared or too noob to use linux :D Have u tried Damn small linux, try it for the lulz, its like 50 megs btw is google chrome really that fast and lightweight? I ran it today and had only one tab open, in windows task manager, it showed two processes of chrome were running taking 24 and 34 megs :hmmm:

Ubuntu is more user friendly than Windows, minus all the crap that comes loaded in Windows.... i looked at DSL. looks like a good project. I really want to try Arch first, though.

i uninstalled chrome after using it for few days ... It was killing my computer .. FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL
was it bloated it with google ads? :giggle:

I switched over to arch from ubuntu 2 years ago. Still using it. Pacman rocks !

This brings back a memory. Back in days when we got our first computer, the 486 dx4 model. We all gathered around the computer and nervously turned on the power button. It brought us to this black screen with some gibberish like 'C:\" (I think) and was asking for some command. We couldnt figure it out what we had to do and after minutes of negative vibes, one of us entered 'win' and the door to the latest operating system opened. Arch is a phenomenal distribution. I've used it for the longest time before I switched to Gentoo and later to LFS (which I had working perfectly before I made a shell script and ran it as root. Got pwn3d). Now I run Ubuntu but the last 2 releases have bothered me a lot, actually. It is bloated and I'm noticing some random things that happen - like Kernel Panic out of nowhere, etc. I am considering trying Fedora and if that doesn't work out, probably will go to Arch as well. Lud, you can try Knoppix - its the best LiveCD distribution that was ever made, actually. I heard/read that OpenSUSE Live is also pretty good and Ubuntu itself makes a good Live CD.

what happend:cantstop: I've used some of the different versions of linux. Its just that I dont feel confident that its safe,yes all u linux users can laugh at me, perhaps because I'm not an expert in it

pacman -Syu :yay::yay: Arch is the best distro. Lean, fast and no crap.
I can't wait to start using Arch. I am tired of these BS OSs bloated with crap.

Plus, the automated update crap + other stuff that Windows does.

To be honest, I feel Ubuntu is all hype. There are better user friendly distros out there than Ubuntu. Sometimes I feel Mark Shuttleworth just paid bunch of folks to hype Ubuntu:giggle: They get most of the things from Debian unstable, polish it and release it. Nothing special about it (other than poop colored theme:haha:).

If you are able to run it for a while, you are sure to learn a lot about Linux in general, which you wouldn't if you installed something like Ubuntu. As far as what happened to my Linux From Scratch distribution, I had everything running, and then I had installed a program that I wanted to uninstall but the "make uninstall" wasn't working (the Makefile had been corrupted cause I was dumb to do so). Then, "accidentally", I had removed my /usr/bin :(( I was crying for a while and then found a disk of my most favorite distribution of all time, Slackware and just installed it and then was on my merry way - until I was bored again, and installed Gentoo.
