We will see how much he follows on that given this guy changes his color within days and in light of his stand so afr against India be it nuclear dela or farm subsidy I will pout it under section of empoty rhetoricin order to appease indian lobby..
Please list his geniune flip-flops. I'll give u 5 for McCain for each of Obama's that you list. And you really consider his answer rhetoric ? He was answering a question for godssake not giving a prepared speech here. And on top of that he wasn't making promises (what you would consider empty rhetoric) but just stating a simple fact in response to a question. Atleast it shows that he has a grasp on facts rather than McCain who actually said in a recent interview that Iraq and Pakistan have a common border !! And not to forget that McCain constantly mixes up Sunnis and Shias. I bet you know as well as anyone DR that one needs to have a very good understanding of the enemy in order to be able to defeat them.

Lets not get too charmed ...it was not too long ago that Obama, when asked about why US is not succeeding in Afghanistan, said that one main reason was that not enough Arabic translators were available, since all of them were being used for the IRAQ war. Not too Harvard/Yale-ish statement to make I would say...considering that Afghanis speak Pushtu and Farsi..:giggle: He also visited 57 states...

Never said he's an expert on everything. Just that he's much smarter than grampa mccain. Btw, the Obama team's response to the gaffe was that there are many arabic speaking foreign fighers in Afghanistan that the US detains and need to be interrogated and they need translators for them as well.
He also visited 57 states...
57 democratic caucuses actually :D

Just that he was making it up as he went, trying to blame everything on Iraq..... Yes, Afghanis speak Dari, a variant of Persian/Farsi..it has nothing to do with Arabic...

I updated my post above to add in Obama's response. Although I do agree that he may have been trying to find more issues to blame the Iraq war for. But you have to agree with the main point that US has more resources in Iraq and hence they can't concentrate that much on Afghanistan.

Agree. I just remember this incident very clearly because I was driving home from airport one day, and I think on radio some Republican talk show was on. They kept harping about this point for the whole one hour drive I think...haha.

I dont trust political people from what they say and many times even for what they do. They can only be trusted when they stick to their policies over a reasonably period of time. Their speech and their deed especially at the time of a campaign can not be trusted at all. A big research team might have told him that a statement in favor of India and against Pakistan at this point of time might help his prospects. May be this statement is just a part of strategy and will be followed by several other statements- some in favor of India and some of Pakistan. May be he will stick to the usual American policy of let the problem persist, fuel it and use it.
