Is Flickr less friendly (aka more complex) for that? both are easy and friendly in uploading and managing picasa - sharing with your family/friends is much easier, upload and then email your friends/family flickr - more for bloggers (bigger community - get ur pic critiqued), to share "only" with your family and friends you need them to register, then create a private group and then invite them to see that group of photos.
