Neil Harvey...you da man!

He is a pain in the bum," Harvey said at a 50th anniversary reunion of the 1958-59 Australian side that regained the Ashes.
"I thought he was pathetic today," quipped Harvey. "He wasn't trying to score runs and he had forgotten how to hit the ball, and at his age he is not going to get any better, is he?
:hysterical: (with due apologies to the former gr8...ooops...
"He has been a good player, but he hasn't been a great player in my opinion."

Harvey you legend. Some of these old time aussies have been waiting for a chance to stick the knife in to the all conquering aussies of last decade or so :haha:
you are 100% correct there. Ponting and Hayden were openly ridiculing the veterans, especially Neil Harvey after he criticised the ugly aussie attitude post sydney test. now it is time for Harvey to repay the compliments.Hayden deserves whatever Harvey said. Harvey did not stoop low by Aussie standards, i mean when u can call an opposition player in the middle of a series as Obnoxious weed, then certainly you can be called as a 'pain in the bum' by an ex.cricketer who has been spot on about the sledging/ugly attitude of some of the australian cricketers.his assessment of Hayden as a good player but not a great player is also quite correct considering his performances away from home and his struggles till 2000 against decent pace.

This is from Cricinfo: Apart from the country's losses, Hayden's future has been the major Australian issue over the New Year. Selectors, team-mates and diehard fans seem to be the only ones on Hayden's side and he did little to secure an extended run during this match with scores of 31 and 39. With his wife Kellie standing to clap in the stands, Hayden left the field with a wipe of his eyes, a look around the ground and a brief bat raise. It was definitely his last Test innings in Australia, but the way Ricky Ponting waited by the fence until Hayden jogged off the ground, it could have been his final bat with the squad.
