Chennai: Indian skipper Mahinder Singh Dhoni will donate his match fees from the forthcoming two Test series against England to the families of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack. Dhoni, who has said he was shell-shocked by the deaths, has also urged other members of the team to follow his example and give up their match fees. The match fees for the two-Test series amounts to around US $12,000 for Dhoni. He also wants his teammates to take a other steps to express their solidarity with the Indian nation. Dhoni has expressed his wish for no excessive celebrations if the team should win any of the two Tests. Some have said the Indian team has recently indulged in excessive shows of emotions on the field, be aggression or celebrating in an over-the-top manner. Dhoni wants such behaviour to be toned down and has conveyed to his teammates they should show sobriety and restraint in moments of triumph. Visiting side The Indian captain has also called on his team to be polite to the visiting England team as the tourists have done the hosts a favour by returning for the Tests so soon after the tragedy. Dhoni wants his team members to wear black armbands as a reminder to what happened in Mumbai last month. Every member of the team, including the support staff, has been asked to wear black armbands until the two Tests are played out. India play England in two Tests in Chennai (December 11-15) and Mohali (December 19-23) over the next fortnight. Even though Dhoni has made known his gesture, no such initiative seems to have emerged from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, which is the richest cricket board in the world. There is a likelihood that board will accept the proposal from Sri Lanka Cricket Board president Arjuna Ranatunga to host a charity match and donate the proceeds towards the families of the victims. Chennai police, as a measure of precaution, have asked Dhoni to refrain from driving out on his $10,000 worth ZX Ninja motorcycle, during his stay in the city for the Test. Dhoni, who was also the captain of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, had zipped around in the night on his motorbike in the past sometimes in the company of his teammates. Dhoni, as well as other members of the Indian team, have been asked not to commit themselves to launching any products or endorsing of any products while they are staying in Chennai. Winning spree Dhoni is on a winning spree as a captain, having won two Tests and five one-dayers in a row. He is likely to make a clean sweep in the forthcoming series against England who could be without their key players. Andrew Flintoff, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann and Ryan Sidebottom are unlikely to be part of the team which tours India in the next few days.
