Cops put up barricades and started to check all entry exit points. So far so good. My personal experience was this. While entering Mumbai from Ahmadabad I was stopped by cops near the toll booth. Car opened and search conducted. I had no problems. Finally came the bolt out of the blue. Cops demanded Rs. 1000/= for chai pani. When I refused, the cop said " Tumhare jaise logon ki vajah se hum yahan 2 din se pade hain. Agar tum log nahi hote to hum bhi aram karte." The language I have put here is very decent. It was typical cop language. What shocked me was the cops discussed the jackpot they had hit due to the incidence and now had an excuse to extract their pound of flesh from common man. Sorry but its these cops who lower our esteem in uniform and are a dark blot on people like Karkare, Salaskar et al.

Even thise bloke being referred as crook in this piece if gets kileld in line of duty will become overnight hero.. sp let us not dwell on anecdotes and over-extrapolate it

Auto wallah getting stopped, putting bribes in cops pockets and then moving on. Not even Mumbai carnage has apparently changed that.
