The Outsider Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Varun/BB? Johnson bowled superbly in the match and ended up losing it....the most poignant instance I remember is Kapil taking a 10 wicket haul at Ahmedabad against WI in '83 as captain and losing the match. Was gut wrenching to see the abysmal support he got.

Need to bother Boss and Varun only for the tougher ones :)

Dhondy Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Yes, 65 occasions, far too many. It gets much more interesting if you check how many bowlers have taken 8-fer in an innings and still ended up on the losing side. The answer is 20 times. However, it's the very first time it's happened to a side in the same year. Krejza took 8 for 215 against India at Nagpur. Australia lost. Three Test matches later, Johnson takes 8 for 61. Same result.
