kabira
Lets say they have to chase 300 odd runs...instead of going for a win..they will make sure NRR doesnt drop too low..and go for 260 instead... I think they just might.. Link to comment

kabira
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? I will pray that Bermuda/Bangladesh game is rained out... that will be so much fun... I think it makes sense to go as close to the target as possible, instead of losing it by 100 runs..which definately shuts them out, if India win... Link to comment
DesiChap
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? They will lose by a minimum of 100 runs. Realistically they will lose by 150 runs. Even if Bangla lose by 100 runs and India win by a whisker over SL, Bangladesh will need a 350+ run margin of victory to advance. Their only hope is SL beating India. Link to comment

DravidDaBest
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? BD can't get thru (mathematically possible but its mountain task) based on NRR. If they're going to super 8s its only because of the higher points. Plain and Simple. Link to comment
kabira
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? why not DDB?? if Lanka lose to India badly by 150+ runs or 20 overs to spare....BD have great chance if they do not have allow NRR to go really down in this game.. Link to comment

Lets say they have to chase 300 odd runs...instead of going for a win..they will make sure NRR doesnt drop too low..and go for 260 instead... I think they just might.. know this... if they are dumb enough to not go for a victory, then the margin by which they fall short of, plus 257 is the margin by which they need to beat bermuda to match us, provided we dont beat sri lanka by a larger margin. play it safe or play is unsafe, if we beat sri lanka, bangladesh's world cup would amount to little more than the frequent flier miles the players knotch up. DravidDaBest
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? Kabira Refer NRR.xls. Its almost impossible for BD to have NRR better than Ind or SL Link to comment
kabira
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? DDB, In your excel sheet try this numbers, Bangla 250 today India scoring 350 and Lanka 180 Now against Bermuda, Bangla bowl out Bermuda for 78 and score those runs in 5 overs..They go thru.. All thats possible only if Bangla can go close to SL score today..if they cant..they have virtually no chance.. Link to comment

That's a good thing India doesn't have to worry about run rate now and just concentrate on winning the next game. It is hard to win and also try and up the run rate against Sri Lanka. Link to comment
DravidDaBest
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? Kabira Therotically anything is possible. But based on current form, happening of both the following events is unlikely > Lanka lose by 180 runs (If India win, Margin will be 50-100 runs or 5-10 overs earlier) > BD beating Bermuda in 5 overs or by 300 margin Mathematically, its probable. Realistically, its highly improbable Link to comment

Ravi, if you crunch the nos. in the excel sheet, ANYTHING is possible. Theoretically BD's NRR can overtake Ind or SL. But its very very difficult (more like 1% chance) Link to comment
kabira
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? yes DDB... thats what I was refering...Bangla had to get as close to SLankan score today to have even 5% chance of qualifying to next round incase of India winning against Lanka.. Link to comment
DesiChap
Re: Will Bangladesh play it safe?? OK guys lets now stop the irrelevent NRR discussion. Bangla will need to win with a margin of about 500 runs against Bermuda if India beats SL :flux: Link to comment
