Lead their team to 6 championships,repeat threepeats, something no one has done except for the Lakers (who didn't repeat) who had a pretty good tandem of their own (Shaq and Kobe). These two offensively and defensively just killed teams. Their leadership and relationship with each other was a revoloution not only in basketball but in all sports. Do you think their's is the best two man team of all time? Oddly they remind me a lot of Tendulkar and Dravid. Both great inviduals, Jordan and Tendulkar the geniuses, Pippen and Dravid the definition of sheer hard work (not to knock Tendulkar or Jordan, they have just as much work ethic as anyone). One of my favorite Jordan and Pippen moments is Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. I started watching basketball in 97 right before the playoffs. I was 9 years old, the fattest kid on the block even though I liked to play sports, but never liked watching it on TV. Michael Jordan inspired me to be the best athlete I could be and by 98 I was beginning to lose all that fat. In Game 6 Pippen was doubtful because he took a lot of charges from Malone and co. Pippen still played 30 + minutes of outstanding defense and was a threat from 3 point range. Jordan was a hero in the last minute, laying it in to bring Chicago to within 1, stripping Malone, then giving Russell the little pat on the ass and draining the shot from the head of the key... What a player. Jordan and Tendulkar have both had equal impact on my life. Any other Jordan/Pippen memories, or even sporting heroes of yours?
Ram Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I started watching NBA around the time when Bulls-Jordan era had just about come to a close. The first couple of seasons I saw, San Antonio Spurs won a few championships. So, the pair of Tim Duncan and David Robinson made a big impact on me. Duncan was one of the most unassuming, silent and yet one of the most effective performers of the NBA. Unlike the other big centers, he wasn’t all brawn and brash. He was the Pete Sampras of the Basketball world. I also had a big soft-corner for Malone-Stockton combination. Poor guys, they helped the Jazz reach so many finals, yet could not win a single championship.
Don Sharma Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Yes... I loved NBA in the late 90s mainly coz of Jordan. The entire team was lethal in watever they did. When the team was down by 3 points with .21 secs to go Steve Kerr wud come up with the shot and how can one forget Dennis Rodman, like him or not he is a really character. There was also a 3pt shooter, a European guy, forgot his name who was really gud. On top of these men were Jordan and Pippen a great combo of talent and grit.

Just a shame he got overshadowed until the end of his peak by Jordan.

Shaqs the most dominant big man to ever play the game, and kobe is the most potent scorer to play the game. Jordan and Pippen were great but you can forget the Xfactors that were involved such as Rodman, Kukoc, Longley, and Ron Harper who had defense. If Shaq and Kobe reunited and Shaq wasnt so old they would have surpassed Pippen and Jordan easily. But these days Shaqs been stepping it up he dropped 45 points recently against CB4 and the Raptors.

Rohan495 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 My favorite memories of bball is when i was young and use to watch the Laker-Kings rivalries. C-Webber and Bibby vs Kobe Shaq and co. Lakers would take them out and hit clutch shots and who can ever forget Robert Horry quite possibly one of the most clutchest performers in the playoffs. Who can forget Fishers errant shot that he hit in 0.3 seconds in SA in the playoffs.

Jordan easily surpasses Kobe as the most potent scorer, how many times has Kobe lead the league in scoring? Twice, Jordan has done it 10 times, including a record 7 times in a row! Second Kobe doesn't play defense like Jordan or Pippen. And if you talk about X Factors, Lakers also had a bunch of excellent role players that helped carry the load both defensively and offensively (Harper, Fisher, Shaw, Horry with THAT 3 pointer). If you put that team up against the bulls teams through 96-98 the bulls would win. Rodman would atleast contain Shaq while Jordan and Pippen would take care of Kobe. Who would take care of Jordan and Pippen from the Laker side? Jordan and Pippen together were the best defensive and offensive pair in the game. Someone said to Jackson that he was "lucky that your best two offensive players are also your two best defensive players"

Just a shame he got overshadowed until the end of his peak by Jordan. Never a better illustration of this then Game one of the 97 NBA finals. Mailman steps to the line, tie game, misses both free throws. As kumble says above, Pippen goes "The mail mail doesn't deliver on Sunday". Jordan, in a moment that was gonna repeat itself a year later, drives to the left and fades away...nothing but net. I was rooting for Malone when the Lakers went to the finals, but he just never got there. Stockton too was the best point guard of his era.
