head coach Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Whoz our there? Whoz gonna take over when Tendulkar, Gangully and Dravid say good bye... Badrinath (a good middle order batsman) Gambir (Opener) Rohit Sharma ( all rounder) R Jadeja (all rounder) Yo Mahesh (pace bowler) I Sharma (pace bowler) Piyush Chawla (spinner) Who else?
Holysmoke Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt i really like the look of gambhir.. he should be an opener in ODI's and a middle order batsman in tests.. Tiwary looks like a good bet too..
Holysmoke Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt -raina? :lmao: he should be persisted with :wtg: the indian board did not groom him, they just thrusted him to the dogs, thinking he will turn out to be another sachin tendulkar
Chandan Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt i really like the look of gambhir.. he should be an opener in ODI's and a middle order batsman in tests.. . Gambhir has never batted in middle order even for his state. He is too flashy and risky. In other words, going to be really inconsistent batsman. Along with that he has temperament problem too.
head coach Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt Two good batsmen who never got a chance to represent India because of zonal politics are Bhaskar Pillai (Delhi) and S Sharat from Tamilnadu. Atleast now more and more youngsters are getting a chance which is good.
Chandan Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt We have Shikhar Dhawan (another opener) and few U-19 batsmen as well, who should play for their states for at least one season.
head coach Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt All these players need atleast 20-25 ODIs and 10-15 tests under their belt before they can be called permanent members. Thats why I still feel Tendulkar, Gangully and Dravid has a role to play on getting these players merged to the system.

DesiChap Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt Hopefully for the Bangladesh tour in May we send youndsters. Ideal tour for grooming.
head coach Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt venugopal rao. I dont know the hype about this guy. His batting looked very average!
jf1gp_1 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt venugopal rao. I dont know the hype about this guy. His batting looked very average! if selectors are willing to give him a decent run even if he fails a couple of time then in my opinion he will replace dravid. Ofcourse rao has to work hard evolve the way dravid did but he has it. Plus every time i have seen him lead a side he has done extremely well.
gator Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt venugopal rao. I dont know the hype about this guy. His batting looked very average! He will go a looooooong way..... he has brilliant cricketing brain and talent.... but odis, coming in at the 35 over mark is not suited for his game.... he is potential captaincy material.... Manoj Tiwary is another who will go some way.... Raina needs more chances.... lot of investment has gone into him.... Ishant Sharma and Yo mahesh should slowly be inducted into some wrm up matches in overseas tours.... Spinners cupboard looks bare..... Piyush Chawla is a huge let-down... jus like another Amit mishra..... we should stop looking for a shane warne...
yoda Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt YVR seems like a pretty good fit for tests. Only our selectors are capable of facking him up big time by bringing him into ODIs. He certainly is not fit to play ODIs, not especially when Kaif was playing and Dravid is still in the team. Raina has potential, but has to play more FCs, prolly a season or two. Same with Chawla. Badri seems ready to play tests. We donno if he is good enough, but needs a shot to prove. Gambhir can probably be swapped for Sehwag in both test and ODI teams as the opener.
apocalypse Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt I thought people were going to discuss about this in this thread http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/counties/leicestershire/6504735.stm :chin:
jf1gp_1 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt I just hope they dont drop Uthappa. Look at tharanga, he fails more than he succeed but slowly he is repaying all the faith put in him. Uthappa , Gambhir , Raina, Kartick, Venu plus a few more from domestic cricket add to that Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sehwag, Kaif we still have enough fire power to bounce back. I accept apart from Raina (if he does justice to the fkn talent god gave him) none can replace a Sachin or even a ganguly but all can deliver as a team.
head coach Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt If Kaif can regain his form and play well consistently, he's an ideal candidate to captian India. He has all the good qualities to motivate a team but the big if is whether he'll play well consistently
