The Outsider Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 In all the hoopla surrounding the elections, government, and the results here is the dog who did not bark - Sajjad Lone, the Kashmiri separatist was handed a brutal defeat in Kupwara. The margin of defeat was almost 150,000 votes and he managed to garner around 60,000. Let's see people talk about popular support for independence in Kashmir now. Here was a born and bred separatist contesting to demonstrate the popularity of the movement and being shown his place. Kuddos to the people of Kashmir and Kupwara!! For the uninitiated, Kupwara is one of the most terror prone areas in the region and Lone opted for the constituency because of the massive support base his father and his family have from there. This second blow to the separatists to demonstrate their mass following after his sister was routed in the assembly elections in December is a development on which any sane government would seize upon to make an international case. However, that it has not been talked about anywhere by anyone makes me feel we will let go of this major diplomatic victory. If I were Manmohan Singh, I would relay this information to the US and Europe immediately. This would preempt any attempts of an international foray in Kashmir and serve as a proxy plebiscite. Once again, Kashmir and Kupwara.......:hatsoff:

I shall relay the information to the india pakistan friendship club(of which i am a mod) and all pakistanis on orkut so they stop claiming kashmiri support henceforth. That is one irritating debate to participate in. This shall be a great boost to our side :giggle:
