Fabregas hints at Arsenal stay Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has hinted that he could stay at the club this summer. The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona after another impressive season at the Emirates Stadium. Fabregas scored 15 goals last term as the Gunners finished third in the Premier League and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they lost to Barca. New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has confirmed that one of his top priorities is to sign the Spain international but it now looks like he could have a bit more work to do. "I haven't said that I will definitely leave Arsenal," Fabregas told The Mirror. "Everything is possible. Now I have my head and my focus on the World Cup. I am very proud to be captain of Arsenal and I love the club and have respect for them. It gave me much pride to be made captain." Source Good News for Arsenal Fans.

BTW do the players get any percentage of the transfer fee or do the clubs keep it all? Also, do the players renegotiate their contracts after a transfer or does the original contract hold?
The transfer fees go into the pockets of those who won the club, or to the agencies(very rare). Depends on the players. If he is a world class player then obviously he will be looking for a better package than what he is making at the current club. Again, every player gets his contract reviewed at the end of each season and they may/may not be rewarded based on their performance.

Adriano Correia (DF/MF) left Sevilla to Barca for €9.5 million. Gunners forward Eduardo is off to Shaktar Donetsk for £7 million. Liverpool are on the verge of signing French striker Loic Remy on a five-year contract for a fee of around £12.5 million. Chelsea and Real Madrid are closing in on Mesut Ozil after Werder Bremen's talks on a new contract for the German World Cup star broke down.

Mario Balotelli is set to leave Italy...City looks the likely destination. Utd has got an outside chance though.

The Times. Ozil becomes a free agent next year and it is only normal for his current club to let him go, if he wants a move. So if he pushes for a move, there will be no one stopping him.

Ferguson opens door on potential sale of Vidic Vidic, 28, has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and, following earlier claims the player's partner was keen to move to a warmer climate, recent reports have said the defender is disappointed not to have been offered a payrise this summer. Asked if he could clear up the speculation, Ferguson said after Wednesday night's friendly with Philadephia Union: "I can't clarify it at all." Pressed further on whether Vidic would be a United player next season, he said: "I believe so." Vidic has previously insisted he would stay at United, but there have been indications that his stance may have changed. Ahead of the World Cup, his agent, Paolo Fabbri, said: "We are waiting for Nemanja to tell us what we he wants to do. We are waiting - as it is up to him. "We have requested some time from United to think about things. Any eventual transfer will take place only after the World Cup finals." The Manchester Evening News reported last week, though, that his representatives had been ordered not to make any comment. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=809726&sec=transfers&cc=4716

Simon Kjaer the Danish centre half who was at Palermo, moved to Steve McLarens Wolfsburg. What a crappy deal, youd think one of the big clubs would have come for him, promising young def. I dont get why players would want to go to Germany or worse, Russia. There are some good players playing in Russia Might remember Kjaer for a raking pass he set up a goal vs Cameroon with in the WC.

Yeah, heard about that. Vidic singned an extension now so good news for Utd fans. Honda the Jap attacker might be off to AC Milan. Hope that deal comes through, he looked really good in the WC and Milan badly need new blood. Esp in defence.

Good to know about Vidic's extension. In other news/speculation -

  1. Man Utd to offer £13M for Standard Liege playmaker Defour.
  2. Inter Milan and Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement over the transfer of striker Mario Balotelli.
  3. With Fernando Torres looking increasingly likely to leave Anfield, manager Roy Hodgson is looking at replacements for the Spaniard. Forlan looks probable at £15 million.

Btw Belgium football is finally on a rise. They could be the team to look out for in the Euro'12 qualifiers. They got a good core of players - Kompany, Witsel, Vermaelen, Fellaini, Eden Hazard(he could be the next big thing),Vertonghen - they need to build on it.

More on Bebe... Tiago Manuel Dias Ferreira, commonly referred to as 'Bebe', was a complete stranger to most football followers about five months ago. This changed on Wednesday evening when Premier League powerhouse Manchester United announced on their official website that they had secured the services of the 20-year-old attacker for an undisclosed fee. To say this is a rags to riches story would be an understatement, as the attacker's career is a real fairytale. He was discovered by Estrela Amadora when he played for amateur side Loures. After signing for the Reboleira, he started his career with the club's youth team. He was quickly promoted to the senior team and played in the II Divisao last term. One season at senior level was enough to arouse the interest of a number of bigger Portuguese clubs. Only five weeks ago, Vitoria Guimaraes made a move for Bebe and lured him away from Estrela Amadora in the Portuguese third division. However, he never made an official appearance for Guimaraes. The promising youngster impressed during a number of pre-season friendlies and several big European clubs had their interest piqued. Barely a month after Bebe had signed with Vitoria, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson travelled to Portugal to meet him. The rest is history. From Living On The Streets To The Theatre Of Dreams There's so much more to Bebe's story than just a rise to the top at a lightning pace though. The Cacem-born attacker went through quite a difficult childhood and was raised at an orphanage, Casa do Gaiato, after spending some of his childhood on the streets. He has even represented Portugal in the Homeless World Cup. Jorge Paixao, currently the coach of Mafra, was Bebe's coach during his spell with Estrela Amadora. In an interview with Antena 1, Paixao revealed that Bebe's difficult childhood could very well make the difference. "He was raised on the streets and that's where he learned to play his football," he said. "All the players come through youth academies now and they're all the same. Bebe is nothing like that. "He's an old-fashioned player. He learned everything that he knows on the street. He possesses a natural creativity and that could really make a difference. Additionally, he has the quality to improvise very well and he has all the features needed to succeed. He's pretty tall and is very strong in the air. He's also very fast though and is technically very good." Manchester United almost missed out on signing the hot prospect, according to a report in Marca. The Spanish newspaper claims that Real Madrid chief Jose Mourinho was also keeping tabs on him. The Guardian suggests that former United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz, currently in charge of Portugal's national side, was the one who tipped off Ferguson. Bebe is a player who can play in several positions in attack. The youngster can play from both wings, as a support striker, and also as a lone forward. He will have to fight off stiff competition at Old Trafford though if he is to break into the first team. Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Federico Macheda are all fighting for a starting berth as well. bebe.jpg
