ludhianvi Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 VNC works. ++ real vnc is good http://www.realvnc.com/ Windows has a pre-built one as well. In winxp, Accessories->Communication->Remote Desktop connection I've never used the built in one though.

Windows Remote Desktop doesnt work across a proxy or a firewall. Netmeeting needs the other party to 'recieve' calls to share the desktop. I think VNC is the way to go, problem is im behind a NAT router and the port forwarding isnt working.

If you can't forward ports, try getting the latest firmware for you router.

triam Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I doubt any of the softwares will be firewall proof. you definitely need a port open for it. Free stuff microsoft remote desktop is good for most stuff, or if you have a server try microsoft management console(even if you dont have a server you can get this online I think.)

In winxp, Accessories->Communication->Remote Desktop connection I've never used the built in one though. i have... works perfect on the same network. though i have never succeeded with access from a different subnet. i enabled port forwarding, application sharing, the whole works... and yet did not succeed. if anyone has successfully used windows' built in remote desktop application, please let me know.
