Guest gaurav_indian
D Y Patil sixth best stadium in world: British journal MUMBAI: The D Y Patil Stadium in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, was adjudged the sixth best cricket arena in the world by the Architects' Journal of Britain. The journal judged the cricket architecture of various grounds in the world as the famous Lord's in London got the top honour while the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore was adjudged the second-best. The other three grounds that got better rankings than D Y Patil Stadium, which hosted final of the inaugural edition of Indian Premier League last year, were Newlands in Cape Town (South Africa), Kensington Oval in Barbados and the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Describing D Y Patil, the journal noted, "Completed last year, this splendid ground was designed by prominent Indian architect Hafeez Contractor. The pavilion end has a stand either side of the scoreboard, plus a cantilevered gull wing roof to give it a dramatic flourish - and to ensure no spectator has a restricted view." The stadium saw Australian Adam Gilchrist crack a 42-ball century in the IPL. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/SPORTS/Cricket/Top-Stories/D-Y-Patil-sixth-best-stadium-in-world-British-journal/articleshow/4830973.cms Link to comment

iHammad
Gaddafi Stadium 2nd! What the hell! I don't agree. That's where the Sri Lankan team got attacked! Link to comment
Guest Hiten.
Gaddafi Stadium 2nd! What the hell! I don't agree. That's where the Sri Lankan team got attacked! Get your facts right. They got attacked when they were on the move from team hotel to the stadium. Plus, these rankings are based on 'architectural brilliance' and not the security/hospitality offered to the crowd because in that case Indian stadiums should NEVER be included in the best stadiums list....there is no such thing as hospitality on Indian grounds. SSJ4Kakashi
Just WHY is Eden Gardens not on that list?:(( Link to comment
kabira
the reason why Gadaffi is 2nd as it is still there, I mean with the bombings going on in Lahore, it has survived. :) Link to comment
