India will improve relations with Pakistan despite Islamabad's reluctance - SM Krishna

Is this the "bend over backward" language that our Foreign Minister needs to use when talking of Pakistan? Yashwant Sinha has rightly said that SM Krishna is turning out to be another Shivraj Patil.

Pak refuses to hand over Dawood, says Krishna NEW DELHI: India has been asking Pakistan to hand over 42 fugitives including Dawood Ibrahim but Islamabad has refused to cooperate, foreign minister S M Krishna told Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Replying to questions, he said a list of 42 fugitives both Indian and Pakistani nationals, including ones involved in the 1993 Mumbai series bomb blasts and the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, has been given to Islamabad. Krishna said whatever evidence and dossier is given, Pakistan's refrain is that it is not enough and cannot be proven in court of law. He said Pakistan has denied presence of dreaded criminals like Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, Chota Shakeel and Lakhbir Singh who are among the Indian nationals in the list. "For Pakistani nationals, Pakistan has pointed to lack of extradition treaty and lack of evidence," he said. "We have made 11 futile attempts with Pakistan to conclude an extradition treaty," he said. Pakistan has not responded "positively to our proposals to conclude an extradition treaty," he said. "We have been impressing upon Pakistan that it is in the interest of both countries that we enter into a treaty of extradition," Krishna said. "Government is endeavouring to persuade Pakistan to develop a cooperative relationship with India." Krishna said India will continue to improve relations with Pakistan despite Islamabad's reluctance. "In spite of Pakistan's reluctance to help us to improve our relations, India's endeavour will be to continue to impress upon Pakistan that we have to have good neighbourly relations," he said. "Our hope is that Pakistan will see sense in such kind of approach," he added. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/NEWS/India/Pak-refuses-to-hand-over-Dawood-says-Krishna/articleshow/4837089.cms
There was another howler he made in an interview to NDTV a few days ago; his whole attitude strikes me as too accommodating and naive.
NDTV: And on the issue of Hafiz Saeed, the Pakistan foreign secretary is saying that India should not hold talks on this single issue, but you know public opinion is following this case very closely back home. So, your thoughts on this? SM Krishna: I agree with whatever the Pakistan foreign secretary has said. The formulation is that it is an internal matter of that country, if they feel and if they have taken a position, then we have to go along with that position. NDTV: But he's said to be a perpetrator of the Mumbai attacks? SM Krishna: Subject to the caveat that Pakistan did make an attempt to go at him and the courts have released him. Wisdom would have dictated that they took the matter to a higher court, but let us wait for the unfolding of events further. http://www.ndtv.com/news/world/sm_krishna_speaks_to_ndtv.php
God save India's foreign policy if such an attitude persists. The joint statement was, I think, a trailer of the awaiting disaster.

SM Krishna is talking out of a southern orifice, whats the point of praising Pakistan for 'catching' a terrorist when they themselves a) train them and b) catch them only to release them once the heat is turned off.

don't blame him, the saying goes...you get what you pay for..... Indian mass voted for Congress and they deserve this.... there could b 10 more 26/11 attacks and Indians will still sleep thru their lives w/o caring....we're built to bend backwards and take it and offer peace at every instance. I bet if Americans and Israelis were not affected by 26/11....govt would have let this pass through...like they did with 10 other bombings before that...

If you're coming on an Indian Cricket Fans website and constantly complaining about "desi" guys being annoying, expect to get replies like mine above.

On the contrary, I'm not the one whose head is stuck up the ass of a 3rd rated leader of a 3rd rated political party. Get out of it and perhaps you can start appreciating the world a little more.
